Frank Sinatra Songbook
“His music helped us understand our own lives more clearly because he was authentically honest about himself.”
~ Shirley MacLaine talking about Frank Sinatra
“The most brutal, ugly, degenerate, vicious form of expression it has been my displeasure to hear.”
~ Frank Sinatra writing about Elvis Presley
“Whatever else has been said about me personally is unimportant. When I sing, I believe. I’m honest.”
~ Francis Albert Sinatra
The BeckRidge Chorale pays tribute to one of the most important music figures of the 20th century with Frank Sinatra — Songbook. Sinatra’s career lasted 60 years, having first come to attention during the swing era of the 1930s and ‘40s. His first number one hit came in 1940 and he was still selling a million copies of his recordings in 1994. Frank Sinatra was able to take the work of the great composers of his era and reinterpret their songs, giving them new life and permanent status as American classics.
We include the songs:
That’s Life • Theme from New York, New York • My Funny Valentine • Dream • The Lady is a Tramp • I’ve Got You Under My Skin • Girl from Ipanema • 18 songs all from the Frank Sinatra Songbook!
